Players of the Week-2

Bryce Bickham – Bryce played for me in his first year of flag where I saw glimpses of great things to come.  His heart and desire to do well are some of his best attributes and is something we as coaches really appreciate in our boys.  During a very difficult game on Saturday, Bryce proved to be one of the toughest kids on the field.  His 100% commitment to doing his job showed and almost put us over the edge on Saturday.  Bryce does not back down from any challenge and gives us 100% on every play during our games and practices.  Pound for pound he may be the biggest hitter on the team.  Incredible start to a great season Bryce!!

Charlie Burke – Every year we as coaches are pleasantly surprised by the “new 3rd graders” on the team.  “Charlie B” was a GREAT surprise and addition this year and has done simply an amazing job for us on defense.  Charlie hits and tackles with so much force that we are a bit worried he may physically hurt someone this year.  Charlie is one of those players that could play at almost any position for us on the field, although has truly found himself a home as a Defensive End.  As our Kicker and Punter he is kicking better and farther than almost anyone out there.  Charlie we are so excited that you are playing football this year…GREAT JOB!

Jax Jorgensen – This one is always a little hard to write given our ‘relationship’ J! Jax plays an extremely important and difficult position, and does it well.  Our corners will go up against the fastest kids in the league and have performed extremely well on defense during our first two games.  Jax is one of those game time players that steps up to the challenge every time.  He made a great tackle on Saturday that may have saved a late touchdown.  As a dad I really enjoy watching my son play (as we all do)…as a coach it has been extremely rewarding seeing him develop in a position he loves for four straight years.  WAY TO GO JAX!

Reese Van Pelt – The first few weeks for Reese were difficult, but we knew Reese would persevere.  I kept telling him that we would not put him in a position to fail and that he needed to trust his pads and be aggressive.  Two weeks ago he went up against one of our better kids, stepped up, and made a tackle.  I could tell at that moment it started to click for Reese.  At practice last week he came up to me on two occasions and asked if he could run another drill asking…”can I do it again Coach James?”  We as coaches felt a great deal of pride when we started to see him come alive.  Good job Reese, keep working hard out there!
GREAT JOB DOLPHINS!
